Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (back) did not participate in practice Friday, Oct. 16, and has been ruled out for Week 6 against the Cleveland Browns.

Huddle Up: It appears fantasy owners will have another good reason to put Chase Claypool in their lineups. The rookie has seen a significant increase in his playing time with Johnson leaving early due to injuries in Pittsburgh’s last two games, and most of the world remembers what he did in Week 5. Johnson was able to get in a limited practice Thursday, so there’s a bit of reason for optimism that he’ll be able to return in Week 7.

Huddle Up: Fantasy players should monitor the situation to see if Ebron is in any danger of missing the Week 6 game. Ebron has been targeted at least five times in each of the last three games but has 50 or more yards in only one of those games. He should be considered a No. 2 tight end in fantasy leagues.

Posted 10/12/2020 3:01 am UTC

Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster caught four of his five targets for 28 yards in a 38-29 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.

Huddle Up: Smith-Schuster has caught at least four passes in all four games, but he has been held under 50 receiving yards in three straight. Even with Ben Roethlisberger back under center, he looks more like a WR3 than the WR1 he was a couple of years ago.

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Chase Claypool caught seven of his 11 targets for 110 yards and three touchdowns and rushed three times for six yards and another score in a 38-29 win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 5.

Huddle Up: Claypool entered the game with nine targets on the year, but he erupted after Diontae Johnson left with a back injury. Regardless of Johnson’s status moving forward, Claypool is probably worth scooping up after his performance in Week 5.

Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger (non-injury) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 9, and is not on the injury report for Week 5.

Huddle Up: Roethlisberger has played well in the first three games of the season and will have all of his pass catchers available this week. He can be a low-end No. 1 quarterback in most leagues.

Huddle Up: Roethlisberger is receiving his usual Wednesday day off and is in no danger of missing the Week 5 game. He is off to a solid start this season and should have some success against the Philadelphia Eagles. He can be considered a low-end No. 1 quarterback in most leagues.

Diontae Johnson – WR

Posted 10/06/2020 5:09 pm UTC

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (concussion) is no longer in the league’s concussion protocol and will return to full practice Wednesday, Oct. 7, according to head coach Mike Tomlin.

Huddle Up: Considering he has only really played two full games and Pittsburgh was handed an unexpected early bye week, it’s easy to forget Johnson got off to a hot start before getting hurt early in Week 3. The second-year wideout may catch a break in his return in Week 5, as the Philadelphia Eagles’ top corner Darius Slay may not be 100 percent if he plays. If Slay is limited or cannot go, Johnson would be a solid WR2 play in fantasy with WR1 upside.

Diontae Johnson – WR

Posted 10/01/2020 6:33 pm UTC

Pittsburgh Steelers WR Diontae Johnson (concussion) took part in individual drills Thursday, Oct. 1.

Huddle Up: There was some thought that Johnson had a chance to be ready in time to play against the Tennessee Titans in Week 4. However, with that game being rescheduled – likely for Week 7 – he should have more than enough time to get cleared in time for Week 5 versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Fantasy owners should consider him a solid WR2 play in that contest.
